Goodbye Baptistry!

Thanks to our new Facility Director, Randy Craw, we finally said farewell to the baptistry tub that has been part of the stage since before we moved into the building.

We had long been unsure of how this tub was incorporated into the architecture of the chapel’s front wall — was it key to structural integrity? We had been using it as Christmas storage and as a pedestal for the projector screen.
In Fall 2023, we had an architectural engineer take a look at it while he was here for other construction considerations. To our relief, it was deemed non-essential. However, it was built partway into the vertical decor, made of fiberglass, and had wiring (possibly a heater/lighting?). Removing it would be quite an undertaking.

We are so grateful that Randy Craw once again stepped in to help. Over the course of a single week, Randy removed the baptistry and cleaned up the wall.

He even built a frame for our projector display!

We are so excited to have this space redone after 19 years! Unity of Bloomington is blessed by the many talents that step up to help achieve our goals!

Ramping It Up!

The Chapel is updated with a stage ramp!

October 22 - 29, 2023

We have long envisioned a ramp to make our stage more accessible to our commUnity, performers, and speakers. We put the energy out there, and Spirit responded in kind! Randy Craw stepped up to modify our chapel, adding an ADA-compliant ramp and leveling our choir area.

October 22nd 2023, before construction began:

It was a lot of work to complete in a single week!

And here is the result as of October 29th, 2023:

We are so grateful and blessed to have such diverse talents in our commUnity!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped move furniture in the chapel on Sunday, in preparation for the construction. Our Board President, Joanie Spain, said: “I’m so inspired every time I see our commUnity work together in harmony and joy to achieve a common goal.”
